ON DURATION
ON DURATION brings together curated groups of intergenerational and international artists who each work with duration in radically different ways. Founded and curated by Dr. Raegan Truax ON DURATION has taken the form of symposiums, workshops, exhibitions, and the annual summer residencies organized by AADK Spain.
During the residency period, the focus is on your creative and artistic growth. Participating artists are invited to work site responsively in nature, surrounded by rocky mountains, the Segura River, and citrus orchards. Everyone has access to Centro Negra (several of AADK’s studio spaces housed in the belly of a mountain) where you can intensify explorations of time, space, body and environment. The unique location and combined knowledge of Dr. Truax and the AADK team also invites deepening your praxis with group workshops relative to: body materiality and sustainability/endurance, aesthetics and politics, territory and temporality, interspecies ecologies, deep time, speculative time, ecosomatics, and site-responsive artistic research.

CBI is a 501c3 non-profit organization. ON DURATION is co-funded through the generous collaboration of the Blanca City Council, AADK Spain, the fundraising of CBI’s Board of Directors, and the collaboration between CBI and the AADK Team. Their joint efforts contribute 80% of the actual program costs toward each artist’s participation.
Official invitation letters are issued to accepted artists to assist in securing institutional funding or external grants for the remaining 20%. Over 92% of artists invited to participate in ON DURATION were successfully awarded funding to cover this 20% of the co-funded costs.
**ON DURATION is eligible for Erasmus funding (with research supervised by Dr. Raegan Truax), Culture Moves Europe Individual Mobility Grants and many more grants specific to each artist’s country of residence.
